Bato dela Rosa confirms threat in Central Visayas

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Monday confirmed receiving information that terrorist groups may attempt to conduct kidnappings in Central Visayas.

“I am giving assurance to the people na ‘yung ating mga pulis sa Central Visayas ay ready kaya huwag kayong matakot pumunta sa mga lugar na ‘yan. Although may advisory sila, that’s their role to advise their citizens. But for me, sa atin dito e…kahit kayo siguro hindi kayo takot pumunta ng Cebu, Bohol,” he said, referring to the advisory of US Embassy.

The US Embassy on Sunday advised its citizens in Central Visayas against possible abductions by members of extremist groups. 

"US citizens are advised to carefully consider this information as you make your travel plans, and to review personal security plans, avoid large crowds and gatherings, and remain vigilant at all times," the travel advisory added.
