GMA News Online

A group of American soldiers, who are participating in the annual Balikatan military exercises with the Philippine military, were involved in a scuffle inside a bar in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on April 2.

A video of the brawl, which was uploaded by a certain Laura Perkins, was aired on GMA's “24 Oras” on Tuesday.

The incident started when an American soldier hit the top of a Filipino policeman's bottle of beer. The act caused the beer to produce foam and overflow.

Emotions flared when another policeman in civilian clothes stood up and expressed his displeasure over the beer tapping trick.

When the other Americans arrived, the same policeman pulled out his gun and pointed it at the foreigners.

The bar's owner and his staff attempted to defuse the tension but to no avail, the incident escalated to a brawl between the soldiers and the policemen. The video showed that the Americans left the establishment after the scuffle.

According to Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla, the two camps already settled their differences.

He also urged the commanders of the men involved in the brawl to impose discipline on those involved in the scuffle if it is needed.

You'd think that pulling a gun on someone over a bar trick is a tad bit extreme. NOT IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!! This is just another real example of the mentality and abusive behavior of the police (PNP).

A vast majority of Filipinos have the same mentality towards Americans.

Bear in mind, America provides the most financial aid, disaster aid and help - always the first to respond and be on the scene, train there military and police forces - but the Filipino military and police still can't get it right, defend their country, etc.

A majority of Filipinos hate Americans and don't want us here. But, they want all of our help and we're the first ones they cry to when they need help.

Yet, they copy all the American styles, products, movies, TV shows, music, etc. Filipinos are ungrateful hypocrites.

They treat us badly when we're here. They attack us here. We are not safe here. Always watch your six.

Basically, they want what we have but not us.

Why do we (America) even bother helping these people? Let them sink or swim on their own!
